DPS Photography
Here are some images I took for my DPS. I took a variety of shots, such as close ups, full length shots, a pan and mid shots.
This image didn't focus when the model move which made the had blurry this was due to the speed of the shot. I could've possible of used shutter speed.
This shot was a mid close up shot of the model. The image is clear however in the background you can see the floor, so if i where to use this image i would have to crop it out. and make it similar to white background.
I took a full length shot at a low angle as in the other image above it, you an see the floor, so I would have to crop it out.
This is a pan shot. This image is related to what I want in my DPS. It will go through both pages of the DPS, so it will be used as the background of the DPS.
This is a mid image of a my model at a high angle. however her hand is cut from the image.

Survey
The first question I asked was if they were male or female. I wanted to know what there gender is, so that i have an idea of if females or males read magazines.
2.Do you listen to hip-hop music from the 80's and 90's? Hip-hop music from the 80's is still popular even people who weren't born in that period listen to it. The majority of them of the people that took the survey said they listen to it the genre of music from that time period.
3.How often do you read magazines? This was a varied answer because I didn't specify what kind of magazine. I just meant magazine in general, but the answers were more toward people reading magazines at least once a week.
4.Do you read any existing hip-hop magazine? this question required a Yes or No answer. Only a few said yes to reading a hip-hop based magazine. I think the reason why only few do is because they may be reading other magazine but just listen to the music.
5.What hip-hop magazine do you read? This is a follow up question of question 4. So the people who read hip-hip music said they read magazines that are really well known, which are XXL and Vibe.
6.What colour represents hip-hop in the 80's/90's? I found this quite difficult to put across, but the results I got were quite helpful. the colours they thought represented hip-hop in that period was black and white to represent the past like a flash back. some said that it would be colours that signify strength, passion, respect.
7.What do you expect to read in the DPS? Most people wanted an interview of an artist or a biography of an artist. A person said they wanted a positive topic on hip-hop and how it changed from how it was in the past and how it has evolved to what it is today.
8. What do you think of the masthead being called Homies? The word is an urban word for friends. I thought this masthead would target both genders since the word isn't restricted for certain people to use. The response I got was that they liked the name and that it has some relation to the genre of music I am basing magazine around.
